مهر ۵, ۱۴۰۳Sweetening of Butane by Sulforex Method
مهر ۵, ۱۴۰۳Merox Unit
The UOP Merox process is an economical and effective catalytic process for sweetening petroleum products in order to remove existing sulfur such as mercaptans (Merox Extraction) or convert sulfur mercaptans to its less harmful form (Merox Sweetening). The process is based on a special catalyst to accelerate the oxidation of mercaptans and convert them to disulfides at an economical production temperature. LPG unit or Liquefied Petroleum Gas is an extraction process.
Simulation of Aspen Hysys unit of Vali Asr Refinery Merax:
The Merox process is based on the ability of a mixed general iron base catalyst in an alkaline medium to enhance the oxidation of mercaptans to disulfides with oxygen origin. This catalyst-free technique is known but generally impractical. The use of UOP Merox catalyst was not common until 1958, when the high economic benefit of caustic reduction with oxygen and Merox catalyst was realized.
